Why should I choose L-3 Avionics Systems for my avionics and instrument service needs?
As a continuously-operating service center for more than 50 years, L-3 Avionics Systems' Ft. Lauderdate facility has the largest spectrum of avionics and instrument capabilities of any independent repair organization. This allows our customers to reduce costs by fulfilling their CMRO service needs with fewer vendors. Our service quality equals or surpasses that of the OEMs and our prices are often significantly lower. How is the Ft. Lauderdale facility associated with Grand Rapids?
Grand Rapids is the headquarters of the Avionics Systems division, whereas Ft. Lauderdale is the 3rd party repair facility (FAA CRS# UL2R217L).

How do I determine whether a product gets shipped to Grand Rapids or Ft. Lauderdale?
As an OEM, Grand Rapids repairs only their product line of avionics; any service requested for these parts should be routed to Grand Rapids. Ft. Lauderdale has over 23,000 line items of avionics CMRO service capabilities in commercial air transport, regional/business, general, military, helicopter and testing equipment applications. For any non - L-3 Grand Rapids products, please route those units to Ft. Lauderdale.

Which aircraft types does Ft. Lauderdale service components for?
We have avionics and instrument repair capabilities for virtually every type of civil aircraft flying. We provide support for components on many types of military aircraft and we also service various types of test (ground support) equipment. What is the average service turn time?
More than 95% of our service orders are turned in less than fifteen days. Many services such as bench checks are turned in less than seven days. Orders exceeding these averages are typically due to obsolete or hard-to-find replacement parts.

What is the average bench test price?
Bench-check fees for the vast majority of the components we service are between
$200 and $300. Certain products are considerably less, and some specialty items will be higher.

Do you charge evaluation fees?
Yes. If a quoted service is accomplished, there are no evaluation or bench-check fees. If the customer elects not to proceed with the work requested on the service order, a nominal fee will apply to compensate for a portion of the costs incurred. The evaluation fee is typically equal to the fee charged for a bench check.

Will L-3 Ft. Lauderdale pay for return freight if a warranty is allowed?
Yes. We do not pay incoming freight for warranty requests.

What types of certifications do you hold?
The Ft. Lauderdale facility maintains the highest industry MRO standards and has been granted the following full class ratings by the FAA and EASA: Accessory Class 1-2-3, Instrument Class 1-2-3-4 and Radio Class 1-2-3. Further, we are approved by the DNA (Argentina’s National Aviation Authority).  Our facility has also been registered to the ISO 9000:2000 and ISO 14001 standards.

Do you have 24/7 AOG coverage?
Yes. During normal business hours (8 AM to 5 PM EST) our Customer Service Department will respond to your AOG needs. For true AOG emergencies after hours, our AOG hotline number is 954-629-8689.

Do you charge for AOG service?
No we do not, as this is an important part of our service to you as our customer.

Do you charge for pick-up and delivery in your local area?
No. Free pick-up and delivery is limited to certain zip code areas in Metro Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
