EAA, Oshkosh, Wis., July 28, 2008 - L-3 Avionics Systems announced today that it has received European Technical Standard Order Authorization (ETSOA) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the ADR-7050 Digital Transceiver for navigation and communication (NAV/COM).
“The growth in electronic cockpit displays has created a need for NAV/COMs that integrate with modern avionics technology,” said Larry Riddle, vice president of business development for L-3 Avionics Systems. “The ADR-7050 meets this need and enables manufacturers to provide the level of integration pilots are demanding.”
The ADR-7050 is a remotely controlled and mounted digital NAV/COM designed to interface with individual cockpit displays. Navigation and communication functions are then controlled by the host display. The communication component features 760 channels at 25 kHz spacing or 2280 channels at 8.33 kHz spacing and transmits at 16 watts while the navigation component receives on 200 channels with VOR, localizer and glideslope receivers. With the ESTOA, the ADR-7050 now meets international NAV/COM operational requirements.
The NAV/COM’s features include a NAV ID filter that silences voice-over during Morse code identifiers and a stuck microphone time-out. The ADR-7050 also allows users to listen to a standby frequency while the radio monitors the active frequency for transmissions and has an automatic squelch feature to eliminate unwanted noise.
L-3 Avionics Systems has been helping pilots fly for more than 45 years and provides completely integrated cockpit solutions. The company’s SmartDeck® Integrated Flight Controls and Display System is a glass panel suite that features a revolutionary user interface designed to make flying safer, easier and more enjoyable.
